So, Joe decided, looking at Google Earth, that there really wasn't going to be much for beaches anymore. At least not for a looong time. So, we went back north. Yes, we back-tracked about 100 miles. So we're now south of Waldport by maybe 5-10 miles. We're at a national forest campground right now parked basically right next to the beach! We have a view of the beach! So nice. We'll be moving to a state campground in a day or two where there will be showers. So, even though we went back north, we'll get to surf for a couple weeks, then we'll head for southern OR and towards California's redwoods.
Here are some random pics.

A lot of the trees have moss covered branches. Fuzzy trees!
A not so great photo of the sand dunes. We were driving around on this dune and 4 others.
A picture of me in the dune buggy on the beach. We'll get a video or two up hopefully soon...

Miranda and I rented a 2 seat Dune Buggy to go play in the Oregon Dunes Area. It was a good time The dunes go up to 100+ feet above the sands, and you can cruise all around. Also had trails to go to the ocean shore and cruise along. it was a good time. Definately worth the money to do once, but NEVER again Too expensive ($195 for 2 hours!!) Check it out on GOOGLE EARTH: (43.5688°,-124.209°)
Miranda was an excellent driver, And i didn't roll it, so it was all good.
we looked for a place to stay in the Dune Park, and found a campground right on the coast!! but when we looked at the water, it was HuGELY algea bloom.. (really gross) so, we werent gonna surf there. instead, headed for town. We're currently staying at an overpriced RV campground in Coos Bay
They said they had wifi, but, no workie.
The showers better work though, have 2 pounds of sand to remove ;)

PS Here are some relatively old pics. Will try to get dune buggy pics/video up in the near future
Our little bench and fire pit that Joe made at our boondocking spot.
Our little area in national forest where we stayed over Labor Day
Went on a walk near one of the Dune campgrounds. This is a nutria. Sort of like a muskrat, but it's native to South America.

Well, we're staying in our first parking lot RV park. It has fast internet though which we need in order to get more work done. So, we stayed here one night to top up on power and water and get work stuff done, then we're heading out back into a National Forest Recreation Area. There are sand dunes and such. It looks very neat. Hopefully we can find a good spot.
I'll try to get some photos up soon of where we were.

I figured I'd post about our Creepy Beach Creature incident 4 days ago.
I was walking to shore from surfing (luckily had boots on for the first time) And suddenly (in a foot of water) was surrounded by thousands of Small Creatures swooshing by my legs!!! They were all 1 - 3 inches across And i was freaking out Miranda wouldn't believe me, we went back out and i told her there were thousands of crabs beneath our feet.. Just wait. . So we sat and waited, finally a wave with enough force to uncover them came, and bam, there's a thousand creatures! Now, my Wife, being the brilliant person that she is, Fisheries and Wildlife and all, surprised me when she claimed that they were baby TURTLES!!! I GOT SOOO EXCITED!! OMG this is the coolest EVER!!!! But after 10 minutes of staring at the creatures, she realized, what looked like Hind Legs paddling, Were Front Claw-PAddles and a Face rather than a butt-tail. . (Ugly things) Any way, I just found a page that shows them: BEACH CREATURES

Because of Labor Day Weekend, we sort of needed to find a place to hide out.. We found a road out into the National Forest again. There was a bit of a ditch in the road, so we took the bikes up and ended up find a very neat spot. We got the RV past the drain ditch in the road easily enough. So, another beautiful forest. After dinner we went for a 6 mile walk down the road further and met a hunter and his two goats (yes, I said goats). They were very cute and are apparently his pets/pack animals.
We went for a bike ride/hike today. Very pretty area. On the bike ride back a, probably hornet, ran into my cheek, apparently freaked out and decided to sting me. So it's a tiny swelled, but so long as I leave it alone it doesn't bother me.
I'll get pics of our little area before we leave. Some people cut down some relatively small trees up here not too terribly long ago, probably for fire wood. So there's still plenty of blocks of wood. Joe made a little fire pit for us and a bench. We're going to make dough boys over a fire tonight. (no s'more materials though)
