We went for a bike ride/hike today. Very pretty area. On the bike ride back a, probably hornet, ran into my cheek, apparently freaked out and decided to sting me. So it's a tiny swelled, but so long as I leave it alone it doesn't bother me.
I'll get pics of our little area before we leave. Some people cut down some relatively small trees up here not too terribly long ago, probably for fire wood. So there's still plenty of blocks of wood. Joe made a little fire pit for us and a bench. We're going to make dough boys over a fire tonight.

WooHooo! Our dirty little secret has been that Miranda hasn't stood up yet on the surfing ;). Well, We finally had some good clean surf, and she gotup twice for some nice real rides

We went surfing today. Super nice waves! They were perfect! What a blast. At one point we were out a little ways waiting for waves and a gull flew up to us and basically hovered just two or three feet away. Super weird. Then later I saw something dark up a head in a wave and realized it was a seal. The seal popped its head up a few times seeming to watch us and then we didn't see it again. We stayed out for a bit, but Joe needed to get out of the sun and we were both really worn out. So now we're hurting a bit, but we may head out again tomorrow morning before we have to leave here. The waves were too perfect to pass up.

We biked south down 101 to see if we could find any place to park. We explored some, but nothing looked very promising. There is one possibility, but it's right off the highway and it would be maybe just for over labor day weekend... We ended up biking 20 miles yesterday.
Today we took our bikes into Newport which is a couple miles away and biked around town.
We also moved to a new campsite today which is right across the road from a beach access trail. So only about 1/4 mile to the beach now. That's not quite as bad. We'll probably go surfing tomorrow.

We have now moved to a new campground. We are now in South Beach State Park. It's a quite large campground, so people everywhere, but there are little trees between campsites... Every site is a hookup site though, so we can finally fully charge our batteries. We're even using the water, so our loud, annoying water pump doesn't run when we run water.
Fun fun.The beach is a bit of a walk which is fine except for the fact that we want to go surfing and carrying the boards and wearing the wet suits during the walk would be painful... We'll see what we do.
